OBJECTIVE
This position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, functionality, and daily operation of City buildings and facilities. It performs routine custodial duties, supports general facility maintenance, and assists with meeting/event setup. This role ensures a safe and welcoming environment by reporting maintenance issues, following safety protocols, and coordinating with supervisors and other departments as needed. Work schedule is part-time, up to 29 hours per week.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED & EXERCISED
- Works under the administrative direction of the Public Works Division Director – Parks & Facilities
- Exercises no supervision
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

CLEANING & FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, vacuums, polishes floors and carpets in offices, restrooms, hallways, and other public areas
- Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks restrooms including toilets, sicks, mirrors, and dispensers
- Empties trash receptacles and recycling bins and replaces liners
- Cleans windows, glass doors, and partitions
- Dusts and wipes down furniture, fixtures, and surfaces
- Maintains cleanliness of entrances, lobbies, stairways, and break rooms
- Performs special deep cleaning and maintenance projects as needed
- Responds to maintenance requests, investigates facility issues, and assists with communicating timelines and project status to building occupants
- Reports observed maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisor and department heads
- Assists with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and unplugging drains
- Assists in snow and ice removal from walkways and building entrances as needed
- Assists with lawn maintenance, tree trimming, removal, and planting as needed
- Secures facilities by locking doors and setting alarms after cleaning
- Maintains custodial supplies and reports supply needs to supervisor for ordering
- Communicates with contractors for facilities maintenance and repairs as needed
EVENT & ROOM SETUP
- Set up, move, and arrange tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings, trainings, and events
- Assists with relocating furniture and equipment within facilities as needed
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience performing custodial or janitorial duties
- 2 years of experience performing light facilities maintenance work duties
- Valid driver’s license
- Must pass background investigation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience cleaning commercial facilities
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
- Knowledge of building systems and facility operations preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Knowledge of safe and proper use of custodial tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to interact courteously with employees and the public
- Knowledge of OSHA and other applicable safety regulations
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
